Western Union - FAQ

How can I send money using Western Union?

Simply visit your local branch, fill out the "Money Transfer" form which you can get from the customer agent, and show some valid ID. You can ensure that the recipient receives the money within minutes* if you provide the recipient with the MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number) number that the customer agent gives you. Please make sure not to share the MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number) number with unknown third parties who may become the unintended recipients of your money.  

You can easily send money using the Western Union option on the money transfer menu of Akbank Mobile or Akbank Internet. The transfer takes place when you enter the name, last name, country of origin of the recipient and the amount you wish to send.  By saving your transfer after you have sent money, you can quickly complete future money transfer transactions without having to re-enter the transaction details using the "My Saved Money Transfers" option. At the end of the transaction, please note the MTCN number displayed on the screen and share it with the recipient so that he/she can receive the funds. 

In order to use Akbank Mobile or Akbank Internet, you must have a current account with Akbank.

How can I get the funds transferred to my account via Western Union?

​Simply visit your local branch, fill out the "Funds Collection" form which you can get from the customer agent, and show some valid ID. No fees are charged when collecting your funds. 

You can transfer the sent amount to your account by selecting the account after entering the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN), the sender's first and last name, the country of origin and the amount using the Western Union option in the money transfer menu of Akbank Mobile or Akbank Internet.

In order to use Akbank Mobile or Akbank Internet, you must have a current account with Akbank.

What currencies can I send and receive using Western Union?

​You can send / receive Turkish Liras, US Dollars and Euros while the kind of currency the recipient gets is determined by the country the money is transferred to.
