Every year in February we organise some financial conferences in İstanbul, Adana, Ankara, Bursa and İzmir. We get together with our clients to discuss the previous year's results and the current year's expectations and global economy trends. The conferences start with our assistant general manager's presentation followed by different celebrity speakers every year.
Sotheby's London Turkish Contemporary Art sale sponsorship
As Akbank Private Banking, we have been sponsoring the forthcoming sale of Contemporary Art Sale in London for the 4th time this year, which staged at The Marmara Esma Sultan every year.
The highlights from the pieces of some Turkish Modern and Contemporary artists are represented in this special night with a coctail afterwards. We want to be a bridge between the financial sector and the world culture and arts. We're glad to be associated as the sponsor of the exhibition that present the most prestigious international masterpieces to the Turkish art lovers in cooperation with Sotheby's.
Art Basel Reception:
During the Art Basel Art Fair which took place in June 2011, Contemporary Istanbul held a reception in Basel with the support of Akbank Private Banking. Artists from Turkey and around the world, collectors and directors of art institutions attended the event hosted at Museum Tinguely.
Contemporary Art Talks:
As of 2010, Contemporary Istanbul began the Contemporary Art Talks conference series to move contemporary art outside of Istanbul, increase interest in contemporary art and to contribute to the creation of a Turkey-wide collector and art lover audience.
Conferences were held in Izmir, Adana, Bursa and Ankara as part of the conference series. The event which received great attention in 2010, continued to reach art lovers in Turkey in 2011 by visiting cities such as Kayseri, Bursa, Adana and Ankara.
Contemporary İstanbul Art Fair:
Contemporary İstanbul, the premier art fair of the region supported by its main sponsor Akbank Private Banking, opened its doors to art lovers on November, 24th and was open until the 27th at İstanbul Lutfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center . This edition brings together 90 contemporary art galleries from 20 countries, half of them international, featuring art initiatives, projects and publications along with art institutions in addition to the exhibitions.
A great number of art lovers, collectors and members of foreign and domestic press visited Contemporary İstanbul in its sixth edition, the only international contemporary art fair in Turkey. Inaugurated on November 23, the fair was visited by 62,000 art lovers and 2,100 collectors throughout the 5 days. This year the fair area was doubled as Istanbul Congress Centre was also included in the fair area which led to an increase of 20% in the number of visitors compared to the last year. The total value of the works exhibited reached 80 million TL, and 75% of the works on display were reached their new owners.
Akbank Private Banking VIP lounge hosted almost 700 guests during the fair. We also had a workshop area for elementary school children.
